From Boyle Avenue to Indiana Street
from swing to hip-hop
from tamales to knishes
from Dia de los Muertos to Obon
come share your tales of Boyle Heights!
"To All Relations: Memories of Boyle Heights" is an arts residency project that brings together the people and the stories of Boyle Heights, past and present. From just plain talk to using fun theater games, music and dance, your stories will help to create performance pieces featuring community and Great Leap artists. This new work will be performed within the Boyle Heights exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum in January/February 2003.
The first story gathering workshops will be led by Great Leap artists Nobuko Miyamoto, Paulina Sahagun and Dan Kwong. Workshops are open to everyone, no performance experience necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your dancing shoes! (just kidding) Check in at the front desk of the main building.
