Great Leap believes that the future of the arts community depends on developing young people into arts performance, production and administration. We participate in two internship programs listed below. We also have volunteer opportunities available.
Liz Donatelli was our volunteer intern for Spring 2004. This May, Liz graduated from the University of Southern California where she studied Broadcast Journalism and Critical Approaches to Leadership. She grew up on the stage performing in musicals and show choir, while also playing the flute and piccolo. She is back home in Virginia now, but remains a close friend of us all at Great Leap.
"Great Leap has re-energized my passion for the arts, while teaching me about this diverse city. It's been a great learning experience to work with people of different cultures and find commonalties instead of focusing on our differences."
LA County Arts Internship Program:
Lisa Lee was our 2005 Marketing & Development Assistant. She is currently a Senior at UC Berkeley, double majoring in Theater, Dance and Performance Studies and Mass Communications. Among other accomplishments, Lisa is part of "Theatre Rice!," an Asian American student theatre troup and is also the host of her own campus radio show!
Vidhya Ragunathan was our 2004 Production and Development Assistant Intern. She graduated in 2005 from UCLA, and is currently attending Law School. Vidhya has been a student of the Natyanjali School of Dance for ten years, and has helped organize numerous cultural events around Los Angeles, including the Lotus Festival and UCLA's Indian Culture Night.
John R. (JR) Bautista - JR. was the 2003 Marketing/Production Assistant intern for Great Leap. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
"Interning for Great Leap has introduced me to the challenges and achievements non-profit organizations encounter as they work for social change and community development. I recognize the commitment, energy, and trust each employee has for the organization in order to continue their visions and hopes for a better world. The experience gave me a deeper insight to the development of art programs and a deeper appreciation for the passion to continue to do non-profit work."
Emily Shin - 2002 Marketing/Production Assistant
Julie Kim - 2001 Production Assistant
