JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP
SALARY: $3,500 stipend plus parking
TIME PERIOD: Full time, June 1 - September 3, 2004

Great Leap is accepting applications for a Production and Development Assistant intern position available through the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program for this summer. The purpose of the program is to provide undergrad students with meaningful on-the-job training and experience in working in non-profit arts organizations and better understand the role of arts in the community.
Great Leap is a Los Angeles based multicultural performing arts organization dedicated to creating and presenting original works in theater, music and dance. Through the creative and collaborative process of performances, workshops and community residencies, Great Leap works with professional artists and community partners to instill a deeper understanding and a sense of connection between diverse peoples. Founded in 1978 by Artistic Director Nobuko Miyamoto, Great Leap is rooted in the Asian American community and promotes cross-cultural exchange with local and nationwide audiences.
The Production and Development Assistant intern will be involved in coordination of the "To All Relations: Sacred Moon Songs" residency, grant and fundraising development efforts, as well as updating and editing web and print publicity materials.
Skills/Knowledge Needed: The intern should have the ability to multi-task, self-start and solve problems creatively. As the intern will work closely with presenters, Great Leap staff, artists, technicians, and community members, strong phone and communication skills are required. A working knowledge of Word is required. In addition, experience with Filemaker Pro, Quark Xpress, Photoshop, and HTML is helpful. Some experience producing theatrical or musical productions and knowledge of multi-ethnic communities in LA county and the LA arts community are pluses.
Eligibility requirements: The internship is limited to currently enrolled college undergraduate students who will have completed at least one semester of college by June 2004, will not graduate before December 2004 and are residents of or attend college in Los Angeles County.
The intern will receive a $3,500 stipend plus parking for a full time position for a ten week period from June-September 2004.
