GREAT LEAP : ARTISTS : SANGAY BUM

 

Sangay Bum is from Amdo, Tibet. He is a professional musician in Tibetan singing and dancing. He also plays the guitar and an instrument called the drumngae, which is similar to the Japanese instrument the shamisen.

Sangay Bum sings traditional and contemporary songs from his province. Sangay has recently performed in New York and for the Tibetan Cultural Center of Southern California.

Sangay was recently heard on radio station KPFK's "The Global Village," and will be featured on the new double-CD from the Dalai Lama inspired World Festival of Sacred Music produced by Bindu Records.

Sangay Bum shared his beautiful voice and music in Great Leap's “To All Relations ‘99” Concert, as part of the World Festival of Sacred Music in October 1999.
