GREAT LEAP : ARTISTS : MARGARET MEDINA

Margaret Medina is a native of Los Angeles, California. She has appeared in the PBS fotonovela "The Fix," directed by Carlos Avila, and received an ALMA Award for Outstanding Latina Cast.

She has appeared in several films including "Speed" opposite Jeff Daniels, and "Falling Down."

Some of her television appearances include "Strange Luck," "Lands End," "General Hospital," and "The Journey."

Some of her West Coast Theatre appearances include "De Donde?" at the New Mexico Repertory Theatre, and at the Friends and Artists Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles. Margaret appeared in "Widows" at the Mark Taper Forum.

She debuted with her one-woman show, "Margarita on the Rocks" at The Lee Strassberg Theatre. "Margarita on the Rocks" is an autobiographical story about one Mexican American woman's journey growing up and becoming a woman. From childhood dreams to adolescence and collegiate idealism, Margaret's comical expectations begin to combat with her reality. As reality colors her world, and in moments of despair and awkwardness, her grandmother's voice of reason comforts her as the omnipresent voice that seems to steer her out of rough waters.

Medina is a featured performer with Great Leap’s touring production of “A Slice of Rice, Frijoles & Greens."
