Show Title: A GRAIN OF SAND REUNION CONCERT TRIO
featuring Nobuko Miyamoto, Chris Iijima, and “Charlie” Chin
Pioneering Asian American Music Trio Reunites after Twenty Years

Description: Great Leap is proud to present the Grain of Sand Reunion Concert. Nobuko Miyamoto, Chris Iijima and Charlie Chin recorded the seminal Asian American album, “A Grain of Sand” in 1973. Their music played an integral role in the burgeoning Asian American Movement of the time. Their songs became anthems for social and political change. Their music brought our struggles closer to home and played an important role in helping to forge unity among people of color. Nobuko, Chris and Charlie will perform original songs from the 70s that are as meaningful now, as they were then. With humor and passion they share stories of their experiences, passing wisdom to a new generation.

Since October 1997, the trio has performed at UC Berkeley, San Francisco State University, UC Santa Cruz, La Pena Cultural Center, University of Massachussetts-Amherst, Japan America Theatre, and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
