Show title: A SLICE OF RICE, FRIJOLES AND GREENS

Description: A Slice of Rice, Frijoles and Greens is a humorous and poignant mix of stories that give vivid insights into the Asian, Latino, African and Deaf American experience. Using theater and dance, three or more artists open windows to their own world through their personal tales. Though each slice may be different, “rice, frijoles, and greens” join to make a statement that entertains while enlightens, taking audiences beyond cultural borders.

    Approx. 25’ wide x 15’ deep with offstage wings for entrances and exits

    Ellipsoidals:
    Tight center, frontal, downstage - rose (R333 or equiv)
    Center, frontal, slightly downstage - warm (R08 or equiv)
    Center, frontal, midstage - red (R26 Light Red or equiv)
    Center, frontal, downstage area - blue (R80)

    Fresnels or PARS:
    Hi-sides, slightly frontal, mid-stage area - green left & red right (R91 & R26)
    Center downspot, upstage - red (R26)
    Center downspot, upstage - blue green (R93)
    Center downspot, downstage - deep purple (Lee 181 or R392 Congo Blue)
    Center downspot, slightly downstage area - gold (R11 or equiv)

  • SOUND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
    Mini Disc, Cassette or CD playback (Mini-Disc preferred)
    2 handheld mics (SM-58 & SM-57 -- vocal, acoustic guitar)
    2 boom arm microphone stands
    1 mic line for direct box (musician provides direct box)
    1 small stage monitor for musician
    3 wireless lavalier mics (if necessary)

  • PROPS
    1 tall stool, music stand (depends on performers selected)
    1 flat bench or piano bench

  • SCHEDULE
    At least 5-6 hours prior to show are needed for tech: focus lights, build light cues, sound check, and cue-to-cue rehearsal.
    Dressing rooms or equivalent type of accommodation is needed for artists to change and prepare.
    Please provide water and fresh fruit for the performers.

Travel and Accommodations: Our performance fee does not include air travel, lodging and ground transportation.
