GREAT LEAP : ARTISTS : CHIC STREET MAN

Chic Street Man is a superb solo "urban acoustic folk blues" singer, guitarist and songwriter. Chic's guitar is a natural extension of his body. He uses the guitar and his voice to create music that transcends barriers of culture and attitude. His songs explore a love for people, music and the planet, bringing home his message through acoustic, bluesy ballads and funky, jazzy upbeat originals. Chic travels extensively performing in clubs, concerts, high schools, middle schools, universities, benefit shows and festivals. His lyrics focus on the positive alternatives while entertaining in a spirited manner.

He was a contributing author and musical arranger and performer for the Denver Center Theater Company's "It Ain't Nothin But The Blues" in 1995. He was a featured performer at the General Assembly of the United Nations for the International Day of Peace. In 1991 and 1992, Chic gave benefits concerts for the United Nations Human Rights Center in Geneva and in 1992 a benefit for relief to Somalia, also in Geneva. Chic was a featured performer at the 1991 Paleo Festival, the 1992 Montreux Jazz Festival and the 1993 Berne Festival in Switzerland. In 1994 he released two albums, "Guns Away" and "Everybody Be Yoself." In 1996 he released his fifth album, "Beau-ti-ful."

In 2000, Chic co-authored and performed in the Cleveland Playhouse world premiere of "Touch The Names: Letters and Stories to the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial," which was created from letters and stories that were left near the Vietnam Veteran's memorial wall.

Chic Street Man is a featured performer with Great Leap's productions of "A Slice of Rice, Frijoles & Greens."
