GREAT LEAP : ARTISTS : BOB DEVIN JONES

 

Bob Devin Jones is a writer, director and performer who has received a Masters degree from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles and has trained at the American Conservatory Theatre - San Francisco, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art - London, England.

He has directed plays numerous plays such as “Dinah was” - Westcoast Playhouse, Los Angeles, “Miss Julie” - American Stage, St. Petersburg, Florida and “War Music” - American Hellenic Theatre, Athens, Greece. He has been seen in plays such as “The Perpetual Society,” Uncle Ben’s: a homecooked negro narrative,” and “The Cafe Freedom.” Bob Devin Jones film credits include “Wisdom” with Emilio Estevez and “Love Songs of Leo Blum” with Michael Engle. He is also a recipient of the 1996 Literary Awards for Pen Center, USA West.

His solo performance piece is an excerpt from a full-length work entitled “Black Witness: James Baldwin.” Bob Devin Jones tells of the American experience as seen through the eyes, life and times of James Baldwin, a chronicler and witness of the Civil Rights movement.

Devin Jones is a featured performer with Great Leap’s productions of “A Slice of Rice, Frijoles and Greens.”
