GREAT LEAP : ARTISTS : ARLENE MALINOWSKI

 

Arlene Malinowski is an Educator, Actor, Storyteller and was seen in the L.A. premiere adaptation of Kafka's "The Trial" at the Company of Angels. She has appeared in numerous theatre productions in L.A. and is most proud of her work in "Chapter Two," "Broadway Bound" and "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" with Deaf West Theatre.

Her TV Credits include ER, The X-Files, LA Law, Doogie Howser and Days of Our Lives. As an actor she has studied at UCLA, the British American Drama Academy and the Groundling comedy improv program. She currently is a member of Company of Angels and West Coast Ensemble Theatre Company where she directed their Intern Conservatory Program for five years.

Arlene also tours her one woman shows about her experiences growing up in a Deaf family entitled "What Does the Sun Sound Like?" and "The Bully." She was nominated for the 22nd Annual L.A. Weekly Theater Nominations for Best Female Solo Performance for "The Bully."

As a Human Relations consultant and National motivational speaker, Dr. Arlene Malinowski has been teaching, lecturing, writing and presenting seminars for over a decade. Dr. Malinowski combines her talents and training as an educator, storyteller, and consultant into a unique and interesting package. Her trademark is her dynamic personality and ability to connect with a wide diversity of audiences. In her work, she is best known for blending her infectious humor and dramatic storytelling with audience participation.

Dr. Malinowski is founder of Training Power Associates, a successful training and development company with a client list which includes the U.S. Navy, Disney, Sony, Nantucket Software Corp, The National Center for the Development of Education, Security Pacific Bank, NYU, USC, Gallaudet University and University of Illinois among others. Training Power specializes in the area of Multi-culturalism & Diversity, Communications and Leadership.

Dr. Malinowski has a Bachelor's degree in Education, a Masters degree in Counseling and a Doctorate in Higher and Adult Education. She combines this education with experience from a diverse professional tenure. She has worked as a teacher, counselor, administrator and consultant in the private and public sector. However, she credits her most significant educational experience as growing up a hearing daughter of Deaf parents and being raised in a community with its own language, culture and norms.

As a motivational speaker and entertainer, Dr. Malinowski combines her skills as educator, storyteller and actor. Her services are in demand at conferences, the college lecture circuit, and in organizations nationally. Her speeches are positive, life affirming and empowering. She has reached out to over 150,000 people with her work and has been featured as a guest expert on radio and television on Gabrielle, J&I, Judge for Yourself, The Fred Roggin Show, Talk Soup, and Living Better.

Malinowski is a featured performer with Great Leap's production of "A Slice of Rice, Frijoles and Greens."
